BUSCH GARDENS EXPANDS ITS
WOLF AMBASSADOR PROGRAM
WITH TWO NEW ADDITIONS
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (June 15, 2009) -- Busch Gardens' newest family members, a pair of gray wolf pups, made their first public appearance Friday at the Williamsburg theme park. The recently adopted gray wolf pups will play an important role as educators for their species and be an integral part of the park's ongoing wolf ambassador program.
"They're happy and growing strong," said Jay Tacey, manager of zoological operations at Busch Gardens. "We hope they help our guests understand and appreciate the important role of wolves, one of North America's few remaining large predators."
The pups, born in April, will appear at Jack Hanna's Wild Reserve "Wolf Haven" located in the Ireland section of the park. They will eventually spend time in the "Wolf Valley" habitat and participate in daily presentations developed to educate guests about these magnificent, but often misunderstood, predators.
Busch Gardens has educated more than a million guests about the importance of animal and habitat conservation since the park first unveiled Jack Hanna's Wild Reserve nearly 10 years ago. The area allows guests to interact with endangered and exotic animals and learn ways to protect their habitats. Busch Gardens supports grassroots wolf conservation efforts in the U.S. and South America through the not-for-profit SeaWorld & Busch Gardens Conservation Fund.
